Strip laminated bamboo with brass weights

Loyal #16 is a strip laminated boomerang made with reclaimed Red Oak bookshelves. 1 big brass weight and 6 smaller brass tubes were placed into the wood to enhance the flight and decorate the boomerang. The brass tubes are filled with black epoxy and the entire boomerang is dyed with an orange and black high contrast design that highlights the handle, tip and metal to wood combination. This boomerang soars through the air and reminds me of the Phoenix, the mythical Greek fire bird that rises from the ashes of its predecessor.
