Striplaminate hook with three species of oak

Loyal #21 is a strip laminated hook pur sang. It’s the culmination of 3 years of dedication to the craft of boomerang making. To create this boomerang I had to learn so many new skills. An endless amount of crashes, breaks and fails preceded this moment. I can’t begin to calculate the amount of time it took to get to this level but I consider it a gift to have had the opportunity to do so.

Reclaimed wood of 3 different species of Oak (White oak, Red oak and Engelmann oak ) were used to create this simple, yet elegant design. The hook tip and handle are slightly wider, and therefore heavier, than the elbow to give the boomerang a higher rotational momentum. This improves the flight without having to add weights. Because of the big wingspan and relatively thin wings, this boomerang has an impressive flight without needing an overly powerful throw. I love the size and simplicity of the design.
